Trentodoc

Located in the Trentino region of Italy, which is in the Italian Alps in the north west corner near Bolzano. The production process utilises the Metodo Classico, which mirrors the production process employed by makers of champagne. Trentodoc received DOC status in 1993. The geographic location, height above sea level, abundance of sun, cool at night and a soil rich in minerals, lends itself to the production of sparkling wine. The grapes utilised are mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; however Meunier and Pinot Blanc can be legally used but are not often included. The most important sparkling wines of this region are:

  • Trento Spumante Bianca DOC (e.g. Cesarini Sforza Trento Tridentum Brut 2014 from www.drinksandco.co.uk)

  • Trento Spumante Bianca Riserva DOC (e.g. Balter Trento Pas Dosé Metodo Classico Riserva 2013 from www.drinksandco.co.uk)

  • Trento Spumante Rosata DOC (e.g. Ferrari Maximum Rose from www.drinksandco.co.uk)
