The Loire region is famous for its production of some of the worlds best Sauvignon Blanc. But with over 4,000 wineries the scope of wine production in general is enormous and ranks as the second largest sparkling wine producing region in France, after Champagne. The Samur region in the Middle Loire is the third largest wine appelation in France after the Champagne region with more than 12 million bottles of Saumur Moussec produced annualy.
17 million bottles of Cremant were produced in 2018 of which 56% were exported.
